This blog makes most of its finds through searches on local directories (yell.com and others), followed by attempts to locate the store in question on Google Street View. Occasionally, Mr Tweets and I encounter new entries during our day-to-day travels, including the time Mr Tweets bumped into Mr Humbug at Euston station, or the time we both met Dr Loo while on Sponds Hill in Cheshire. Several readers have also been kind enough to send in recommendations.
Signor Chef is a different case. I stumbled across him by a strange sort of accident. It happened yesterday as I was perusing Google Street View in an attempt to locate Mr Vacuum Cleaner. Imagine my surprise when – on the very same street and just a few doors down – I spotted Signor Chef!
As his name suggests, Signor Chef is primarily a supplier of pizzas, including the 'Signor Special' (a combination of mushroom, pepperoni, spicy sausage, onion and mixed peppers). Signor Chef also looks beyond his Italian origins to serve jacket potatoes, Persian kebabs and various side orders.
Given the close proximity of their businesses, it is pleasing to think of Mr Vacuum Cleaner popping round to Signor Chef on a regular basis to catch up and compare notes. What a colourful high street Nottingham Road must be.
