Mr Chicken’s
132 Barking Road
London E6 3BD
This post answers a time-honoured question, in that we featured Mr Egg over three months ago.
Mr Chicken is based in the East Ham area of London, which is mildly ironic, given that Mr Chicken’s business is about anything but ham. It’s certainly more ironic than rain on your wedding day, which, as many have pointed out, is an inconvenience rather than an irony. A better line in the chorus of Alanis Morissette’s song would be “It’s like Mr Chicken being based in East Ham.”
It’s also slightly ironic that Mr Chicken is based on Barking Road, given that Clucking Road would be more appropriate. Again, “It’s like Mr Chicken being based on Barking Road” might work as a follow-up line in the chorus.
I wonder if a chicken shop having a happy chicken as a logo is also ironic? It probably is.
The greatest irony of all would be if Mr Chicken had once been based on the other side of the road, but decided to cross over when better premises became available directly opposite. This would answer another of life’s eternal questions, which ironically is how this post began. However, this is quite a convoluted irony that would probably work less well as a song lyric.
I'm sorry, but contrary to popular opinion, this is most definitely the best blog post ever.

That's very kind. It would be ironic if Mr Chicken was also a dark horse!
